Introduction

Originally establish in 1958 (as Radio and Electronic Major) Department of Information and Electronics Science (DIES), School of Information Science and Engineering Yunnan University , has 13 faculty, including 3 professors, 8 associate professors, 1 winner of Yunnan Youth Science and Technology Leading Backup Talents Award, 1 winner of Yunnan Teaching Master Award. 9 of the 13 faculty are Ph.D. DIES has Electronics and Information Science and Technique bachelor major, Information and Communication first grade master and doctoral major, Control Science and Engineering first grade master major, biomedical Engineering and Internet of Things Engineering master major. 

During its many years’ development DIES always focuses on teaching and researching, combines talent education and social economical development, and serve the local and frontier development. Also DIES exerts the advantage of comprehensive university, insists on the combination of science and engineering, emphasizes on major and specialized construction, and improves teaching standard constantly and the educational level. After long-term construction and development DIES has built an academic faculty with excellent leading talent, middle and young aged academic echelon and other staff.

Based on long-term reformation and construction DIES has been making achievements in teaching and education, with the 1st Teaching Prize for Yunnan Province College Education and many textbooks publications such as Random Signal Principle and Experiment, Signal and Linear System Analysis based on MATLAB, PIC Single Chip Principle, Development and Practice and so on published by Higher Education Press, Science Press and Electronics Industry Press.

DIES has many advantages and features in Speech Signal Processing, Astronomical Signal Processing, Acoustics Signal Processing, Smart Calculation, Geographic Information System Development and Application. It has taken many NSFC( Nature Science Foundation of China) projects such as Chinese Accent Understanding of Yunnan minority, Local Chinese Understanding of Yunnan minority Based on Telephone Voice, Statistics of SAS Image and Robust Imaging Algorithm, Statistics of High Resolution SAS Image and New Imaging Algorithm, Key Technology of Smart Video Monitor of Drug Rehabilitation Center Based on Behavior Mode, Yunnan international cooperation project Smart Reading System of Water, Electricity and Gas Meters.

Electronics Information Science and Technology major was assigned as an important major of Yunnan Province in 2000, and elected special major of Yunnan province in 2008. The department educates talents who are both social and economical oriented, ethical, cultured and socially responsible, master the necessary basic knowledge of natural science and electronic information science and technique. They are capable of self-learning, engineering practice, professional competence and being engaged in electronics, information and relevant fields to research, design, develop, apply, maintain and manage.

Electronics Science and Technology, Information and Communication Engineering are main majors of this apartment which are characterized by solid foundation, wide range, both Science and Engineering, modern electronic information system design, application and curriculum design, teaching organization oriented and student cultivation. The curriculum consists of mainly basic math and physics series computer software and hardware series, electronics technology series. 

Electronics Information and Science Major grants engineering bachelor degree after 4 year’s study and all requirements.

The graduates of the above major can be employed in research, teaching, development, design and maintain in electronics information, computer field in government, schools, research institutes etc.


Major: Electronics and Information Science Technology

1. Educational objectives

To educate and cultivate advanced and special talents who are both ethical, cultured, and socially responsible and trained strictly in electronics and information theory and engineering, and know well about computer, signal processing and electronics system research.

2. Educational Requirements

The graduates of this major are supposed to:

(1) Know well about the necessary natural science knowledge such as mathematics, physics and so on in order to be engaged in scientific research and engineering in electronics and information science field.

(2) Know well about the basic theory and special knowledge in electronics and information major and relevant fields. Be able to use and develop electronics technology, signal processing, communication technique, computer technique. Go through systematic experiences in electronics and information engineering. Know the current and future development in electronics and information science.

(3) Be able to design and complete engineering practice in electronics and information science. Be able to analyze and put forward to solutions to problems in electronic information science. Be able to get involved in the design, operation and maintain in electronics and information system.

(4) Know basic creative methods and be creative. Be able to initially design, analyze and debug comprehensive experiment and solve practical problems in product development, engineering design and analysis.

(5). Know well about how to index documents and acquire relevant information Via modern information technique. Be able to write properly scientific the sises and reports.

(6). Know the laws and regulations about the manufacture, design, research, development, environment reservation and sustainable development in electronics and information science. Know right the impact and effect of electronics and information science on the world and society. Be professional and serviceable.

(7). Be initially able to organize, manage, express, communicate and team work.

(8). Be able to read academic materials in a foreign language, Be able to communicate and cooperate between different culture backgrounds.

(9). Have good learning habit. Be able to learn and adjust to new knowledge and development.

5. Career

The graduates are able to research, teach, be development system, design product, maintain and service in electronics and information field in government, school, institute and other companies which use electronics and information products and techniques.
